About Gill Baker
I am a part time artist, based in Kent.
I studied art as a major element of my teaching degree in the 1970s but changed direction in my working life, just retaining an interest in art in my spare time.
Since I was made redundant in 2015 I have spent an increasing amount of time painting and drawing, and taking photographs.
This lifestyle change gave me the opportunity to concentrate more on developing my skills and ideas. I now have a small studio at home where I paint most days.
I am drawn to painting people, places and things that I enjoy, and find that art is a wonderful way to create memories. I have taken part as a Wildcard competitor in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year, which was a marvellous experience.
Many of my paintings are for sale – please contact me for further information.

Artwork
I paint mainly using acrylics, and occasionally I use oil paint or watercolour, or mixed media. Most of my work is on canvas or canvas board. I paint from life or from photographs that I have taken myself on my travels.
I exhibit my work locally including through Bexley Art Group, Bexley Arts Trust, and Swanley and District Arts Society.
I will undertake commissions on request.
